Jean, my mother, was born Ethel Beatrice Mary Peterson, on 3rd July, 1928 at 44 Steele Road, West Ham, the daughter of Rose Lillian Wyles and Edward Peterson. She died on 26th December 2006 at Salibury Hospital, Salisbury, Wiltshire after a brief but typically brave battle against lung cancer.
I decribed Mum in the eulogy I gave at her funeral. Mum's life was quite hard in the early stages but filled with adventure, achievement and a family who loved her very much. If you'd like to read it you can download a copy of Jean's Eulogy (pdf format).
Mum had also begun work on writing her memoirs. Though she'd mapped out quite a lot of it into chapters, she'd only written the first part of her life, some of which makes quite harrowing though it's a fascinating social history, written from the point of view of a child in poverty-stricken East London. It was Jean who insisted on having a website for her family tree research into both the Peterson and the Martin sides of the family. I have lots of information already on the Peterson side and hope to put up a website for that at a later date.
